Senior Year Spring Break!

Although I love to travel and do it often, I have never traveled as much as I have these past few weeks, and I am loving it! From New York City to Hilton Head, I have gone from walking busy city streets to lying on the beach with some of my best friends. Traveling solo can be very fun and rewarding, but I really enjoy traveling with friends! This week I am going to recap my Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and tell you how a group of college students had a great trip on a strict budget.

Tips and Tricks!

This year was my SENIOR year spring break (queue the tears), so we wanted to end with a really fun trip! A group of 6 of us decided that we wanted a trip that would be fun, but also super relaxing. We started to think about what beach or area could be the best option and we decided on Hilton Head Island. The environment of trees, nature, and calmness of Hilton Head was perfect for a relaxing trip, and the fun restaurants and activities Hilton Head provides gave us the “fun” element. I am going to highlight some basic suggestions about how to create a cheap and fun trip to Hilton Head below:

  1. Rent Bikes!
  • My friends and I did close to over 40 miles of bike riding throughout the entirety of our trip. The Island is very bike savvy and has bike paths everywhere you go. In general, this is how most people get around the Island during their stay. Bike racks are situated all over popular stops and bike locks will be included with your bike when rented. I will be the first to admit, I presumed that renting bikes was an expensive activity and was apprehensive at first. However, we found a bike rental company on the Island that was very affordable for a group of college students. I was able to rent a bike for 4 days for under 40 dollars! The name of the company is “Island Life Bike Rentals”, and it can be found here https://islandliferentalshhi.com/.
  1. Bring pickle ball equipment!
  • Hilton Head Island is a very active community and has everything from an elite golf course to community pickle ball courts. The pickle ball courts are very affordable to reserve for a couple of hours and makes for a very fun activity when you want to switch it up from lying on the beach.
  1. Bring all beach supplies from home!
  • Hilton Head merchandise tends to be on the expensive side, so I highly suggest bringing beach chairs, towels, and more from home.

Overall, Hilton Head is such a great and safe place to visit and one that can be very affordable if done correctly! Later this week I will be posting a blog highlighting some of the best places to stay, what restaurants we ate at and more! Stay tuned!
